We do not claim ownership of your files. You remain the owner of all content you upload.
When you vault a document (PDF, DOCX, or TXT), Nanivolt extracts text from that file in your browser, then transmits it over HTTPS to Nanivolt's secure server. Before any data is written to storage, the extracted text is encrypted using AES-256-GCM — a military-grade symmetric encryption standard.
The encryption key is derived from your unique user ID combined with a server-side secret stored in Nanivolt's secure environment — it never touches your browser or any third-party service. Even if the database were ever compromised, your document contents would appear as unreadable ciphertext to anyone without the server key.
Nanivolt does not read, share, or sell the contents of your documents. Decryption only occurs server-side when you explicitly request your own vault data.
Nanivolt generates a unique SHA-256 cryptographic fingerprint for every vaulted file. This fingerprint is used solely to determine whether another uploaded file is identical to the original. The fingerprint cannot be used to recreate the original file.
Each vaulted file receives a unique verification token. Verification tokens allow recipients to confirm file integrity through Nanivolt's verification system. Do not publicly share verification links unless you intend others to verify your document.
